There is also another Huge but different style scrapbook store on the way.
So, I stop at small, but more current scrapbook store with the girls. I'm shopping and I hear the manager having a *heated* conversation on the phone. Then, afterwards the manager and owner are talking about it - a mean disgruntled customer objects to the way they are revamping their punch card system.
Anyway - right now they are about the only LSS still staying open in the City!!! Seriously!
A few months ago the big one up by where Kelli and live closed. Then this month/last month the tiny one run by two sisters closed. I went in today and the small store, (Scrapper's Attic) told me the Big Giant store (Huckleberries) - that has been in business for 9 or so years is closing on May 24th!! Then, they also tell me the other super cool store (Apropros) that actually carries new stuff, Hambly, the lace cs, felt ribbon etc. is up for sale. They actually had great stuff, not too bad of prices even, went to CHA even - just a bit far away from as far North as we are. Plus the last couple of years Stacy Julian has done some classes here and Donna Downey was here this spring - and they are being sold or closed!!!
So, now there is the one little-ish store - Scrappers Attic, left and a tiny little stamp store left.
I do suppose it could partially be my fault as my last 2,3,4,500 or so I've spent on scrapping supplies has been with SS - not counting the on-line purchases and the adhesive. So I am sad they are closing but the giant one I can kind of understand. The smaller ones have more of the 'fun' stuff that I buy and great prices. The big one sells lots of stickers and Tons of Jolees - Oh, and today I let the girls each pick out a pack of stickers. Anna picked some cheerleader stickers because evidently the cheerleader with a dark pony tail is "Missa," and Ella picked a Snow White princess pack of Jolee's - no biggie right? The Snow White Stickers were $5.99!!! That's an expensive sticker for a kiddo to play with Then, I checked the price on the adhesive I buy - I can get it on-line for about 3.50 a roll or whatever - 6.95 at her store -So I know she has to make a profit and compete but it is really hard for my family 2x the amount - kwim?
I guess I'm feeling a lot sad they are closing their dreams and a bit guilty for not helping out more to help the little guy.
